More on the Airport Express………. this schweet piece of kit is so versatile and offers; wireless networking, wireless internet, wireless connection to printers, but most importantly for me - wireless iTunes streaming. I already have an uber quick and reliable Netgear wireless router so I am using the Airport Express to strengthen and extend my wireless network and internet, but most of all for the wireless music streaming. Here’s the official blurb from the Apple website on wireless music streaming:
Add Music to Your Current Wireless Network - If you already have a wireless network in place, you can use AirPort Express to add music to its capabilities. Let’s say, for example, you have AirPort Extreme set up in your den. There’s no need to scrap this setup and create a whole new one with an AirPort Express Base Station, your DSL or cable modem, printer and stereo all in one place. Simply connect AirPort Express to your stereo in your favorite music room and plug it into an electrical outlet — it wirelessly links to your existing network, letting you play your music in your room of choice without moving anything or connecting anything else.
Its really nifty, you just plug it into the wall, connect to your amp (or my home entertainment system in this case) and you can take control of your HiFi wirelessly from your laptop like its a big remote! Nice man. Very nice man.

Gidday! It’s a bit of a sidetrack from my original post idea, but I seem to be accumulating Kiwi mates at a worrying mate (and yes, Emslie, that includes you……..). So much so, that I’ve started greeting callers on y mobile with ‘Gidday mate!’. Sad. Next, I’ll be saying ‘caaaaaaaaaaaaaa paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak’ instead of ‘car park’. Come to think of it, between Emslie, John, Amy and Grayskull and associated family and friends, do I know every NZer either directly or by association? Let me know. Ta.
Back to the beginning…………. we’re back! What a legend weekend, in one of the best cities I have ever visited. I will wait until the dust has settled and I’ve checked all the photo’s, but on brief retrospection I am tempted to say that it is my favorite city in Europe. I’m gonna write a review and post the pics soon, but for now, anyone who hasn’t been should really consider visiting Prague, it is a real gem.
Oh, and Tiscali have kindly reconnected me so I now have braodband at home again, exactly 30 days since we moved - idiots.
AND, I’ve got a new toy for my wireless system at home - an Apple Airport Express! So I can now stream iTunes wirelessly around the house - schweeeet! More later.

I unveiled to the world details of our impending trip to the West Indies for the cricket world cup, and I can now FURTHER reveal that I have set a website to track preparations for the epic! So, for all the latest news, and interviews with the tour party stars, log onto: Windies Tour 2007. The site is only in its infancy and with 16 in the tour party, hopefully everyone will get amongst and post a plenty. Alternatuively, you will have to endure my drivel on not only 1, but 2 websites!! Enjoy.

Following on from my previous post and my new endeavour to find the best steak in the world, we all met up last night for Philipa Sumner’s bday at ‘Marimba’ a relatively new South African restaurant in South Wimbledon. This venue was formally the ‘Piano Lounge’. I cant find a direct link to the new restaurant, so check out the following review: South African Times.
I was pretty impressed overall, the bar area is funky, the bar fridges stocked with both SA and other beers (although they ran out of Hansa last night - bad idea), and the food was really good. We’ve had a couple of good experiences at Chakalaka in Putney, but haven’t been for a while cos the prices are pretty high, and Marimba appears to have also put a relatively hefty price on the dining experience. The prices are certainly not over the top, and based on the response last night, worth every penny. I went for the ‘Haunch of Springbok’ for mains, which was served as 4 solid chunks of Springbok meat with Marimba chips. The steak was incredible, really tender but perhaps cooked on the rare side of medium - about my limit.
Overall I thought it was a really good restaurant and we’ll be back I’m sure. If not just for the Hansa - if they ever stock any!

On our continuing rampage of the London West End theatre, Sar and I watched ‘Mousetrap’ on Saturday with Kam and John. It is the first ‘play’ (as opposed to musical or opera) we have seen, and what a way to open our account - it was brilliant. The show opened in 1952 and is the longest running stage production in the world - on Saturday we watched show number 22,385!! Here’s some other random info about the play courtesy of This is theatre.com.
The Mousetrap opened at The Ambassadors Theatre on 25 November 1952 where it remained for 21 years. On Saturday 12 April 1958 The Mousetrap became the longest running production of any kind in the history of British Theatre, beating the five-and-a-half years run of Chu Chin Chow. After its 8,862nd performance on the evening of Saturday 23 March 1974 it transferred to its current home, The St Martin’s Theatre, on Monday 25 March 1974.
This production celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Monday 25 November 2002 with a special Gala Performance attended by Her Majesty, The Queen and His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. On 25 November 2004 The Mousetrap celebrated its 52nd Birthday. The total number of actors and actresses who have appeared in the London production now number 350 with 187 understudies.
Mark it down as a must see.
Talking about ‘must sees’, we followed the theatre with drinks at ‘Waxy O’Connors’ a legend pub just off Leicester Square, and dinner at Gaucho Grill in Piccadilly. Now, I know I raved about this restaurant after Sar took me there for my birthday last year but after our follow up experience, I implore you, provided you are not a vegetarian, try this place, it is incredible and the steak is unmatched in the capital. I wanna get Joop from Durban and Gaucho Grill in a steak competition with me as the judge!!! If you like your steak, fillet cut and tender, try the ‘CHURRASCO DE LOMO’, an Argentinian speciality. Gaucho Grill does fleece you a little, but in my steak loving, red wine loving, well trained palette it is worth every penny and then some….. and Joop, watchout, when I’m back in Durban in December I better find that you are still on top form else I’ll starting swearing allegiance to someone else…………

This has slightly less impact now than it would have had about 3 weeks ago, but I thought that I’d post the story anyway.
I got invited a few weekends back by a firm of architects to join them at Homepark Windsor, for a charity cricket match between the Lord Taverners and Windsor cricket club. The match formed part of the Lord Taverners ongoing charity match schedule, as well as a fundraiser to mark the 75th anniversary fo the Windsor Rotary Club.
.
It was a great days entertainment which included a 3-course lunch with champagne, traditional afternoon tea, and much beer and cider swigging inbetween. Chris Tarrant of (most recently) ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionairre’ was there as auctioneer, and I got to sit next to, and enjoy lunch with none other than Mike Gatting. Apart from talking about playing golf, which Gatting seems to spend most of his time doing now, it was interesting to hear his perspective on England’s chances in the Ashes, gather inside information on the fitness of certian England players, and discuss the ECB’s policy of recruiting as many overseas players as possible to fill the national side! It seems as though we share the same, rather…. hmmmmmm….. how should I put this…….. uncomplimentary views of Kevin Pietersen.

They weren’t joking when they said EVERYBODY had a blog… a rather extreme and dramatic statement, but it is impossible to accurately quantify the rate at which new blogs are being logged worldwide. I mean, obviously not EVERYONE has a blog, cos well, I only have 5 ‘mates websites’ on my homepage list, and I have at least, 6 maybe 7 mates…… you get my drift.
However, if you DON’T have a blog then you are now officially being outdone my a baby panda! Yup, that’s right as described on IOL and China view (no, its not a site I visit daily) a newly born panda in Sichuan Province has its own blog. I hope you can all read Madarin…………

One for those of you with ‘little uns’, this one is for you. Brendan Gray of Grayskullduggery fame has promised to pay me a substantial amount of money for an exclusive marketing spot on the Chateautoby website. Its comparable with the advertising space at half-time during the superbowl but different.
Grayskull’s girlfriend Oanita runs children activity classes in Clapham and has set up a website - Littlebrushes for your interest. So for those of who with little terrors running around with endless energy and for all those Van Gogh’s out there, this may appeal to you:
Get messy with our paint and create classes. We allow the freedom to explore with many different mediums, materials and techniques. We will also guide our little artists imagination’s with fun and creative art activity ideas.
We encourage our little artists to have fun with art, to have fun with friends and to gain confidence through their artistic achievements.
We are “ALL ABOUT THE CHILDREN”. We love working with children and find the satisfaction of their company and achievements second to none. We are sure you’d agree!
So give us a call to book your free trial class today.
or log onto the website for more info. I’ve also added a link on the right hand side.
