A quick note just to let everyone know that we is back on the sinking island from ‘Le Tour’ of the Caribbean. Needless to say that the tour was a ‘ripper’, despite the Protea’s genuine effort to throw the game against the Aussies. It will be difficult to recount the entire trip, so I willl probably end up uploading a million photo’s instead. Look out for more this week about Barbados, Bequia and St Lucia.

In the haste to get work done and get everything in order I didnt have the chance to write a bonvoyage post! We are now 5 days into our trip adn Barbados is absolutely incredible. Although stuck well in the dark ages (it reminds me of Mozam) the people are the most friendly I have ever met, adn everyone is just chilled and enjoying life. The atmosphere is amazing, and the cricket yesterday was brilliant. We absolutley smashed them poms into oblivion to secure our place in the semi finals in St Lucia. And………….. WE WILL BE THERE! Aussie aussie aussie…… WHATEVER. Come on the Proteas!! Hopefull you will have seen all of us yesterday on the telly but if not look out during the semi finals. The lumo kit will be on full show!

The common word for the unplayable delivery, otherwise refered to as a ‘peach’ or a ‘jaffer’, the delivery bowled a West Indian fast bowler at 90 miles an hour from 10 feet in the air, bowler close to the stumps firing the red leather nugget in at middle and leg only for it to straighten off a length to hit the top of off-stump - unplayable. And also a fair summary of the Easter weekend. If I didn’t HAVE to go to the World Cup cricket in 1 day, and I didn’t have work for seven normal men, I would detail the weekend day by day in separate posts. However, a single post will have to do for now…… because, well we’re going to the Caribbean on Thursday morning!! Read the rest of this entry »

Again, rather late than never, but congratulations to Bruce and Carrie-Ann who got engaged to be married on Wednesday the 14th March. Bruce proposed to Carrie on a random night to maximise the surprise and apparently it worked a charm. Congrats to you both and we wish you all the best.
Bruce and Carrie have announced that their wedding will be held on November 24th 2007. So, with Murray and JC’s scheduled for August 18th this year, Bruce and Carrie for November 24th and Sar and I for March next year, it is going to be a right royal feast of Laister weddings in the next 12 months!!
Bruce and Carrie are documenting their plans online, so if you wanna see what they are up to in the build up then have a look at their website.

Its now 9 days ago that we jogged around Kingston and Hampton Court in the aid of nothing in particular, but rather late than never…. so here’s the review of our Kingston Breakfast Run!
Dan the man Roberts suggested we get amongst this race, so I drafted in the crew of Dodge, Laz and Ryan with the aim of going the full 16 mile distance. After a couple of Richmond Park runs, but not much else, we decided that 16 miles was perhaps a little ambitious, particularly seeing as though it was 2 x 8 mile laps, and entered the 8.2 mile race (13.12km). It was a very well organised race, although far too many entrants which resulted in the first 2 miles being run at pedestrian pace through Kingston and along the tow path to Hampton Court. The scenery in the early stages was awesome though, and as the pace picked up we settled into 8 min miles. Ultimately Rog stepped it up in the final mile to take the bragging rights by about 45 seconds, as Laz and I held in until my characteristic Asafa Powell kick in the final hundred led to a finish in 69:10 and a placing of 422 out of 1600.
Unfortunately the cold weather completely immobilised the girls’ camera trigger fingers so I only have a smattering of random pics from the day. The official photo’s online can be found here and fill in bib No. 4693.
The important thing to take notice of is the headband………. respek.

A pretty dramatic title, but don’t worry nothing serious, I just thought I document my own recent NHS story. While Grayskull was trying to get his cast off, I was having my own adventure at St Georges hospital last week. Its hardly a gruesome story, but if you’re not a big fan of hospitals and all that goes on inside these institutions then look away now, otherwise Read the rest of this entry »

A slight change of theme, as we stick with sport but switch to rugby. Hows this for a beaut from the SA rugby administrators. If the SA team at the world cup doesn’t have at least 6 non-white players, then the SA governmunt will confiscate the players’ passports and not let them go!!! WHAHAHAHAHA WTF? I have a lot of faith in mankind, especially when it comes to intelligence, you know ‘he can’t possibly be THAT stupid, it must be a mistake’……. well, no more……. I think Butana Komphela is THAT stupid!
